John D. Hodson

Introduction

Mr. Hodson, a retired Air Force judge advocate with extensive trial experience, is Solano County’s only AV-Preeminent rated family law attorney. He and his associates offer traditional family law representation, and he is also a court-certified arbitrator, mediator, special master, minor’s counsel, and private judge, and is trained in collaborative practice. He has chaired the State Bar of California Family Law Section Executive Committee (FlexCom) and served as Legislative Director, Education Director, and Secretary for the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists Board of Directors.  He served two terms on the Council of State Bar Sections and is currently a member of the Judicial Council’s Family and Juvenile Law Advisory Committee.  He serves on various committees throughout California, and on the editorial board for the State Bar’s Family Law News and ACFLS’s The Specialist.  Mr. Hodson stood in for a year as Solano County’s Family Law Facilitator (sub rosa) and at various times has served as superior court judge pro tem, and has aided the court in various projects to include hiring of its Facilitator and drafting of the Local Rules of Court and local forms. He is a frequent MCLE lecturer on family law topics, and is Solano County’s first and only AAML Fellow. His firm has offices in Vacaville and Fairfield, concentrating in Solano County, but accepting select cases in other counties as well.  Mr. Hodson is a member of the AAML National Legislative Committee, and serves as the Northern California Chapter’s Legislative Liaison.  Mr. Hodson is a charter member of The Salvation Army Advisory Board for Solano County, where an annual “John D. Hodson, Esq. Spirit of Giving Award” is named in his honor.  He has been the Solano County Bar Association’s Attorney of the Year, and his firm has been honored as Law Firm of the Year.  He is the only family law attorney in Solano County to hold Martindale-Hubbel’s prestigious AV-Preeminent rating, its top rating for attorney competence and ethics.
