Our theme this year is “Navigating Crossroads in Family Law.” For more than 40 years, our annual Symposium has provided sophisticated family law programming to experienced practitioners from the Bay Area and beyond.
The Friday Symposium this year is a focus on Money, Money, Money. This first day will have 4.5 hours of presentations on various complex issues in family law, including issues relating to equity compensation packages, reasonable compensation and how it affects business valuations; apportionment and tracing, characterizing and transferring the community interest in securities in privately-held companies; and how to calculate child and spousal support on equity compensation.
On Saturday, we will feature a Keynote Presentation by Professor Rory Little at Hastings College of the Law on the changes in the U.S. Supreme Court and what that will mean for the law going forward. In addition to the Keynote, a total of 11 presenters, including renowned family law specialists, family law judges, family law forensic accountants, and leading practitioners from related fields, will speak on topics such as cryptocurrency – what is it, how do we find it and how do we divide it, breach of fiduciary duty issues, the latest challenges law firms face with cyber-security, two custody presentations, and a presentation about gender issues in the Courtroom.
