"What You Don’t Know Can Hurt You:
How Changing Interest Rates and Other Market Forces Impact Divorce Settlements"

MASTRO'S STEAKHOUSE, 399 GEARY ST, SAN FRANCISCO, CA 94102

Presenters: Peter Turner, Ashley Velategui and James Ellis of Bernstein Private Wealth Management

Join us for a presentation highlighting the implications of changing market forces on divorce, including how changing interest rates affect the “present value” of lump sum spousal support payments and how inflation impacts the determination of how much is enough in settlement negotiation.

Peter Turner, Principal

Peter C. Turner joined the firm in 1997 as a Financial Advisor and became a Principal in 2000. Based in the San Francisco office, he advises high-net-worth individuals regarding investment planning and management, working with them to arrive at a portfolio asset allocation that can maximize after-tax return at a controlled level of risk. Previously, he was a partner in the San Francisco law firm of Landels, Ripley & Diamond, LLP, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of complex business litigation, including securities fraud, lender liability and contract disputes. Before that he was a law clerk to a US District Court judge. Turner earned a BA in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a JD from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a member of the California State Bar Association, the Bar Association of San Francisco, the San Francisco Estate Planning Council and the Marin County Estate Planning Council, where he served on the board of directors from 2003 to 2006 and as its president in 2005.

Ashley Velategui, CFA - National Director, Planning Research | Investment & Wealth Strategies

Ashley E. Velategui is a National Director of Planning Research in Bernstein’s Investment and Wealth Strategies Group and is based in the firm’s Seattle office. Ashley joined the firm in 2007 and began working with the Investment and Wealth Strategies Group in 2011, serving as an analyst and senior analyst before becoming an Associate Director in 2014. She earned a BA, magna cum laude, in mathematics and economics from Whitman College and is a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder.
